Senior Full-Stack Developer specializing in React, TypeScript, and interactive 3D on the web (Three.js / WebGL). I build large web applications and the kind of immersive, real-time experiences that most frontend developers don't touch.

What sets me apart: before moving into web development, I worked as a mechanical development engineer (CAD with Pro/ENGINEER, CATIA, SolidWorks). That gives me a rare combination: I think in geometry, parametric models, and spatial systems, and translate that directly into performant 3D web applications, from data visualization to product configurators and WebAR/WebXR.

Technical overhaul of an existing React app that visualizes gene expression data for the model organism C. elegans. For a selected gene, the app shows which cells express it, color-mapped onto an interactive 3D worm model (OpenWorm). My focus was on evolving and stabilizing the core features, improving the data pipeline, the 3D rendering, and the export tooling, while significantly increasing responsiveness through preprocessed data.

Key responsibilities:

3D visualization: Reworked the interactive 3D scene in React Three Fiber / Three.js, including an "explode" animation of cell groups and transparent rendering.
Data integration: Optimized the connection to the WormBase REST API and the handling of static expression and ontology data.
Export features: Implemented export of the visualization as GLB, transparent PNG, and CSV.

Multimessenger Astronomy: Interactive 3D Visualization (Exhibition Version)

Technical overhaul and extension of an existing React app powering an interactive 3D visualization of multimessenger astronomy, designed as an exhibition installation. The app renders astronomical catalogs (stars, galaxies) and cosmic events (tidal disruption events, gamma-ray bursts, supernovae, gravitational-wave mergers) as navigable point clouds in 3D space, framing them within a guided, story-based journey through the universe. My focus was on evolving the core features, optimizing performance, and stabilizing the app for continuous exhibition use, with preprocessed and compressed catalog data plus an offline-capable build that markedly improved load times and runtime stability.

Key responsibilities:
3D visualization: Reworked the interactive 3D scene, rendering large point clouds from star and galaxy catalogs, and implemented redshift representation via a custom GLSL shader, adding a central scientific feature.
Data pipeline: Processed and projected astronomical catalog data, converting equatorial to galactic and cartesian coordinates (RA/DEC/redshift to x/y/z).
CMS integration & offline build: Integrated a Directus headless CMS with build-time content export for offline exhibition operation (PWA).
Performance & stabilization: Optimized rendering and data handling for permanent kiosk and exhibition deployment.

Development of an interactive 3D microsite visualizing an ocean depth profile. Users explore the seafloor in a real-time 3D scene and navigate via markers to individual points of interest (POIs), which reveal habitat or organism information depending on the zoom level. All content (text, media, measurement data) is managed dynamically through a headless CMS and served multilingually (DE/EN). The result is a performant, fully CMS-driven experience that stays smooth even on mobile devices thanks to an on-demand render pipeline and optimized asset delivery.

Key responsibilities:
3D visualization: Built the interactive 3D scene in React Three Fiber / Three.js, featuring seafloor terrain, water volume, particle effects, godrays, and custom GLSL shaders, with clickable POI markers and camera fly-throughs.
CMS integration: Integrated a Directus headless CMS via GraphQL, including a typed schema, multilingual content resolution (DE/EN), and dynamic asset handling.
Responsive UI & PWA: Responsive layout with tailored mobile rendering and offline capability via service worker (PWA).
