Lana Immelman

I’m a South African filmmaker based in Berlin. My diverse work experience in filmmaking, my interdisciplinary academic commitments and my specific cultural and personal background has formed me into a filmmaker who seeks to produce meaningful works creating and moving within inclusive artistic spaces that would allow both the people involved and the viewers to delve deeper into the themes that we are trying to share in an accessible way.

Since 2019 I have worked on various video productions in roles as camera operator, cutter, director and in editorial work. I am involved in conceptualisation, planning, production and post-production. I have been working with various collaborators creating image films, event films, concert videos and with artists including Isaac Chong Wai, Nobutaka Shomura, David Krut Projects and Charlotte Mcgowin-Griffin on performances and documentary projects.

One of my current projects is with Charlotte Mcgowin-Griffin, which is set in Venice, Berlin and London. I assume roles as DOP, in pre- and post-production, as well as support Charlotte in conceptualisation.

In 2022, I started a personal experimental documentary film project in which I investigate mobility in South Africa, specifically looking at the experience of women and gender based violence. I explore certain topics through fiction.

Seit 2019 habe ich an verschiedenen Videoproduktionen als Kamerafrau, Cutterin, Regisseurin und in der Redaktion gearbeitet. Ich bin an der Konzeption, Planung, Produktion und Postproduktion beteiligt. Ich habe mit verschiedenen Kollaborateuren Imagefilme, Eventfilme und Konzertvideos erstellt und mit Künstlern wie Isaac Chong Wai, Nobutaka Shomura, David Krut Projects und Charlotte Mcgowin-Griffin an Performances und Dokumentarprojekten gearbeitet.

Im Jahr 2022 habe ich ein persönliches Filmprojekt begonnen, in dem ich die Mobilität in Südafrika untersuche und dabei speziell die Erfahrungen von Frauen und geschlechtsspezifischer Gewalt betrachte.
